Conceal Carry options?
First off I am looking at the Springfield XD Sub-Compact. I know of the different methods to carry IWB OWB off body ankle shoulder etc... My two favorite are IWB and OWB. My only apprehension with OWB is that it is more difficult to conceal, is this true? Also which type of OWB holster would be best? Any help would be much appreciated.
So the main reason why the OWB is harder to conceal is simply because the gun is outside of your pants. If you have an IWB holster than the only part of the gun you have to conceal is whatever is above your belt line.
However, if you are wearing a vest, or an untucked shirt it doesn't really matter.
There are tons of good holsters ranging in price from about $20 to well into the $100's. Further, in may experience they tend to vary in comfort and usability depending on the gun itself. I would suggest getting something like a Blade Tech IWB holster to start with. Rigid plastic, not too expensive and see how you like the fit with an XD. Tons of people I know carry that way, many with an XD. If you want to move to leather then my preferances are generally for Safariland, Galco or Bianchi.
