lots of different questions about the U.S. army rangers and military in general?
A little background....I'm a junior at east carolina university and I'm looking to go into a tactical career immediately after college. I'm an eagle scout. My father is also a master sargeant in the national guard and he is completely apposed to me going into the military. So my questions are as follows:
What is the standing payrate for college graduates going straight into the military?
How often are special forces soldiers deployed, and for how long?
What kind of contract do I need to find or sign in order to get into the sf category?
I have more questions but I think I got a lot of them answered. If you would be so kind as to not leave any jackass arrogant answers. I am not that knowledgable of military life, other than what my father tells me, on the account of I'm not in any jrotc or anything. So please no dick answers

not sure how it works for the Army, but in the Marines officers don't get a choice what their MOS (military occupational specialty) will be, they make a list of preferences, but that's it.
I can tell you that SF is recruiting like crazy, I travel for work to many different army posts and see posters up everywhere for numbers to call for SF tryouts and they take any MOS.
Something else to keep in mind if you join as an officer straight out of college, depend on your enlisted men with combat experience, don't think or act like you know it all because you went to college and OCS. Realize that you are no different than any PFC that just came out of boot camp, you might be more educated, but you have just as much combat/military experience as they do, so be smart, shut your mouth, listen to you enlisted NOCs/combat vets, and learn. Don't assume you know it all and can run it all.
