what things should i consider when looking for a holster to fit a .38 special as a gift for my grandpa?
and do you have any advice on where i should look?
he has never, in all the years i've known him, told me what he wanted for holidays. but this time, i found out that he needed a holster for his 38 special... not sure if he wanted a belt, too. actually, i'm not sure what i should be looking for. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks a ton!
The choice of the carry piece itself is a very personal thing but not NEARLY as personal as the holster you carry it in. Almost everyone that carries concealed has a box of holsters that aren't quite right for one reason or another. If you grandpa hasn't carried much he may not even realize that himself.
Buying a holster for him is almost a sure way to make sure it ends up in that box I mentioned. He can buy it himself and it can end up in the box. Holsters are a trial and error item... lots of trials and lots of errors. A holster that's perfect for one person can be, and often is, a total failure for another.
This is a tough gift.... at the very least take him shopping the day after Christmas. A gift certificate would probably tie him to one brand and that's very constrictive. My best advice..... let him pick his own or come up with another gift idea.
