Shark Fin and Rhino horn...see and correlation?
In many areas of our world, eating shark fin and powdered black rhino horn are believed to do the following:
1) Cure numerous diseases
2) Make men more virile and potent
3) Make women more fertile
4) Extend life
5) Make you smarter
But science has since stepped in and tested these claims over and over and over again. Not one of them holds true. Every single claim is a lie. Yet despite absolute, empirical evidence to the contrary, people still believe it. Why?
The recent book Misquoting Jesus finally proves without a doubt that a vast majority of the modern King James Bible has been falsified and made up by scribes and translators over 1,700 years. Yet, even with this empirical evidence, people still insist the bible is authentic and true. Why?
Why,why,why, i keep trying to find the answer to this as well,
The only answer i feel i can give without being rude, is that they follow in blind faith. They must do because they refuse to listen to reason, they refuse to look at the evidence and condem all other peoples ideas and thoughts that do not confirm with their religious beliefs. Is it ignorance or is it if they realise the truth they would be totally alone. I'm an Aethist and cannot understand why they believe like they do however i can understand that they want comfort in the knowledge they might see loved ones in the afterlife and be absolved of their sins. It can be lonely being an Atheist and realising your going to be nothing but rose food or worm fodder!!!!
The same will be for the use of medicines you list above it's having faith and believing in it that can sometimes cure you, like the placebo tablet if you think it will work it will !!!!
