Is the boresnake good to use as a replacement for the traditional rod?
Your thoughts and opinions? A few previous answers to my other question brought the bore snake to my attention (thank God.) That piece of equipment looks like it would save me so much time. I absolutely hate cleaning guns. Such a pain in the ass.
Bore snakes damage the barrel?
I am in a predicament. What metals should I then use to clean my barrel without damaging it? I bought the Winchester Universal gun cleaning kit at wal mart. It comes with copper brushes. What will that damage? What metals to use against what type of barrel? What metal is the best for a barrel, meaning can take the most abuse (shooting and cleaning wise?) Chrome lined? Stainless steel?
Well, for a quick run at the range between groups, fine.
for real cleaning, just invision a long wet abrasive rope being pulled down the bore... over and over....
no thanks, i'll stick to patches and bronze...
ADDED: think about this: you bore gets a copper jacketed bullet slammed down it a several thousand feet per second. A copper, bronze or brass brush is designed to scrub the bore and isnt going to hurt it. The walmart brushes are crap, you get maybe 5 or 6 uses before the bristles are bent. buy some decent ones....
