Does Remington Gun Oil (RemOil) contain any kind of solvent?
Using RemOil, is it like a "one stop shop," or not? Cleaning my autoloading shotgun, I've been applying a solvent first with a copper bore brush and then applying RemOil in the bore and action using a swab/mop from my cleaning kit. I also apply RemOil to the wood stock and forearm. Is this an acceptable method?
everyone has their ways so I will try not to get carried away here. I use a solvent (shooters choice) with a bore brush only for the bore. Then solvent on swabs to clean barrel. push a couple dry patches out afterwards to make sure things are squeaky clean in there. then send a couple patches through with the Rem oil. clean the action with solvent. coat lightly with Rem oil. you can wipe the wood down with Rem oil, I like linseed oil better. It lasts much longer and does a great job.
