turkey call help?
ok yesterday i got a Primos, Double Reed, "A-frame" and "Sonic Dome" mouth callers, i cant get them to work right. as my friends would say i sound like a duck. i really need help before turkey season
Diaphram calls HAVE to fit the roof of your mouth correctly to sound right. Try using different size calls to find one that fits you. Also, for a beginner, try using a singe or double reed call before going for the more difficult 3 reed or split v calls. I use the small frame quaker boy calls and they fit and sound great. My first season chasin' turkeys, I used a slate and box call because no one explained that the reason I couldn't make the regular mouth calls work was due to the smaller size of the roof of my mouth. I basically taught myself to call and hunt turkeys, and that's no easy feat when you are simply listening to everyone just telling you to "keep tryin', you'll get it". Being this close to season, I would probably stick to a good box call and a slate call with a selection of different strikers.
Good luck and happy hunting!
