how to teach dog to play "dead?"?
i had a college professor once who brought his dog to class for fun one day, and showed us his favorite trick. he pointed at him (with the universal "gun" hand signal, using this thumb and index finger
and said "bang bang!" his dog then dropped to the floor, rolled over onto his back, stuck all 4 of his legs straight up in the air and stayed there until he called him back up! it was the cutest thing ever. how can i train my dog to do that?
I'm in the process of teaching my shepherd this, she isnt quite as good as the dog in your example but she will go down and lay on her side and not make a move until I recall her.
I taught her by putting her in the down position, made eye contact made the bang bang hand signal, and gently rolled her with my toes to get her on her side. I suppose if you wanted legs up in the air that would come after your pup understands the play dead part.
