Airsoft questions...?
okay, so I'm going to be upgrading my current rifle (double eagle m82 peice of crap plastic shooting like 200 fps) to a JG m4 s-system 2010 full metal model that's chronoed in at 430 fps max. It currently has a M200 spring in it, and most of the airsoft fields around here have a limit of 400 fps. Would dropping the spring to m100 bring it to 400 fps or would i need a lower spring? Also, I need a reliable but cheap electric or gas powered pistol that can be used for indoor, 40 bucks max.
My next question concerns gear set ups. I for sure want a tactical vest, and i have a nice one picked out, but i don't know what to do for headwear, bdu, footwear, and communication. Thanks
Alright... here we go.
The FPS you're spring is going to produce varies from company to company, and from model to model. (and also from gun, to gun, the FPS rating you're given is an 'average'), for example, a spring rated at 110 by Guarder is shooting an average of 350-380, whilst a 110 by Systema is shooting at an average of 400-440.
Now, if I can give you a pointer, opt for the "basic version"
The (JG) metal receivers aren't worth the extra ~$120. THe ABS body is fairly sturdy, unless you're throwing it about, it'll last you just as long as the metal version. (after all... it's the exact same gun, just different external build) You're also going to be clocking in somewhere between 300-350, instead of 400+
now...
There is no such thing as a reliable Electric pistol. End of story. on a $40 budget... this is the best I can offer you

It seems to be holding strong for my friend.
Tac. vests, this is a touchy situation, because what works for one person, may not, and often doesn't work for someone else.
Of pre-fabricated vests, I believe these are the top two:

It's only a starting point though... I highly recommend you buy a MOLLE Plate carrier, and your own pouches, whilst it is more expensive, you build it the way you want.
headwear... you can use a simple set of goggles. if you're going for Mil-Sim, you're going to want to purchase the proper helmet style for our loadout... and i don't know what that is (as I don't know your loadout
)
BDU... again, this depends on where you play, and what your loadout is... any Military surplus store is a good, cheap, way to find what you need.
Footwear... the color depends on your loadout, but a pair of workboots is a cheap(er) alternative to true Mil-Spec boots.
Communication... the sky is the limit, how much do you want to spend?
A (relatively) cheap method is to buy a couple of Motorola "Walkie-Talkies", and a headset, this is something you need to work out with your team though.
