Electonic Question - Surge Protector Blew?
I know nothing about electonics or electronic parts (okay, very little)...
I was sitting over at my computer and I heard an extremely large POW sound and thought a golf ball hit the window. Then I look over where my TV, PS3 and Cable box are sitting and I heard a crackle pop sound (kind of the sound when your old computer monitor turns on and off). I quickly unplugged everything and the sound died down but is still crackling a little bit. Makes me think something with a capacitor is out of wack. Perhaps the surge protector blew and fried all my gadgets? Seems like the crackle is coming from all of them if that's possible?
My question is... I'm honestly a little nervous to touch/try on any of these gadgets in case of a fire hazzard. My TV, PS3 and Comcast box are worth over $3,000. Do you think something is fried? Any idea if everything is?
Any help on what to do here would be appreciated.
sounds like something fried. Did it trip any circuit breakers in your fuse box? The only thing I can suggest is to switch each unit on one at a time. test the TV first. Plug it into to the outlet socket and see if it lights up. Switch it on with the remote. Try to avoid touching it until you know its ok. Repeat with the other 2 items.
