Why do air conditioners make me so sick?
At first i thought it was just my air con because it hasn't been cleaned in so long, but i am in the new room with a BRAND new air con, second day of use or something, and i'm having the same reaction. In about twenty minutes i began a sneezing fit and my eyes started watering, etc.
I just took a zyrtec (allergy relief) and turned off the air con, opened the door, and it is starting to take effect and i'm clearing up, but WHY do i have this reaction whenever i am in air conditioning for an extended period?
Thanks in advance.
It's possible that you can't take being in a room with such a low level of moisture in the air. Air conditioners don't just cool the air, they remove the moisture from it. Some people can't stand to be in an air conditioned room for long periods of time since it tends to dry out their throat and sinuses. I sleep with the aircon on in my room at the mine that I work at, and quite often I'll wake up with a coughing fit, or when I get up in the morning, my throat and sinuses will hurt. It sometimes helps to put a big bowl of hot water next to my bed, but a humidifier would probably do a better job. Try it, you might be surprised how well it works
