Glock Handgun Questions?
I'm new to guns and have taken a liking to the Glocks for home protection but have a few questions.
1. Which Glocks use which mm ammo types.
2. Which Glocks allow the flashlight and laser sight attachments
3. Which Glock do you believe to be the best and why for home protection?
This is only about Glock handguns
Also how many bullets can they hold and which holds the most?
It depends, how experience are you?
A 9mm is the best general purpose cartridge out there. It's moderately powered, light recoil and high capacity.
The .40 is a bit more powerful, but quite a bit more recoil and less capacity.
The.45 is considerably more powerful than the 9mm, a bit more powerful than the .40, with I think only a slightly higher recoil compared to the .40.
I own a Glock 17 9mm, Glock 21 .45ACP and a Glcok 27 .40.
In the 17 I use Gold dot hollow points 125+p and 147 grain hollow points.
In the 21 I use Gold dot hollow points 200+p and 230 grain hollow points.
In the 27 I use Gold dot Shot barrel hollow points 180 grain.
I think all new 3rd generation Glocks have an accessory rail for a light. You can always get the laser that goes inside the recoil spring and it completely inside the gun. I'm not too big on the laser though, a light is 10 times more useful. The laser gets people accustomed to it to the point if the battery dies, so do they; but it can be useful for a person in a stressful situation to have to put somewhat less thought into aiming, just don't be completely dependent on it. Most home situations are close range anyway.
In your home there is no real reason not to use a full size gun. If you want to conceal carry, you need to look at a compact or subcompact in most cases.
There are Glocks that fire .357 sig, 10MM and .45Gap, i've never shot them so I can't vouch for them. I know I have three glocks, and I have never had 1 jam in over six years.
I would either go with the 17, 21 or 24. See if you can rent them at a local shop, some places do.
The .45ACP glocks have large grips, a lot of people don't like them because their hands don't fit comfortably around them, it's one reason they developed the .45 GAP to be able to make a smaller grip, but the .45 GAP is not quite as useful as the .45 ACP, but it's still a descent shell.
If you can hold the 21 and shoot it effectively, it's a great gun, very accurate and reliable. If not, the 24 is good, if that doesn't work for you, the Glock 17 is a great gun.
