Need help tricking out an ak-47 variant?
Hi,
I would like to buy an semi-auto ak and put on:
1) front foregrip
2) folding stock
3) holo sight
the problem is that the cheapest ak out there (saiga 7.62 x 39) doesn't accept stocks that support these options. Has anyone already done something similar like this? if so, please let what ak-47 variant you used and the stock brand,...Thanx!
I have a saiga, and i plan on upgrading to a folding stock.
One option without modifying the gun, is a company called ace makes a drop in folding stock which is just screwed on the the receiver similar to the tapco t6. I am using the tapco t6 collapsible stock currently, but I want to upgrade to a folding stock in the future.
There are several options for forends. SGM (Surefire) tri rail, Tapco, UTG quad rail (you can mount a top holo sight with this one), are the least expensive.
The route i went was
tapco t6 collapsible stock (keenzo.com has them for under 50 dollars)
ak quick detach side rail mount from ebay (got it for 17 dollars shipped from a chinese seller and it is excellent, holds zero, locks in securely and detaches in 1 second to go back o the iron sights.) I also got a stubby foregrip from the same seller
custom vented stock forend w/ bottom rail.(I paid 45 for it shipped, i think a guy on dinzagarms.com will vent and add the rail for 65 to the stock handgaurd)
And my gun came with 3- 30 round surefire mags. And i also bought some used promags off a guy for really cheap. They work too but sometimes the 30th round might not feed correctly. They are backup and range toy mags. I am also going to install a bullet guide from dinzagarms so that I can pop in standard AK mags in an emergency or shtf situation.
Im using 1x-2x red dot from a1optic
and I also just ordered a 20mw green laser from chinese goodluckbuy.com.
all together I have put 500 in the gun i'd estimate, but I got some good deals. 300 for the lightly used saiga with surefires (gunbroker.com), 17 for the top rail (ebay), 45 for the foreend (private seller), 10 for the vertical grip (ebay), 37 for the green laser (goodluckbuy.com), about 30 for the promags (private seller), 50 for the t6 collapsible stock (keenzo.com), 10 for a sling (ebay)
