Fox fur/pelt question-what does this mean?
I am interested in buying a fox fur/pelt, but I am not sure if it is taxidermy mountable as soon as I get it. It is from Moscow Hide and Fur, and it is under raw furs. The description says "dried, cased, fur out". What does that mean? Does the inside still need to be skinned? Please provide as much info as possible. Thanks!
On Moscow Hide and Fur they have a section specifically for taxidermy under each animal. "Raw Furs" are not ready for taxidermy, they are not even preserved yet. It means it still needs to be tanned.
If you're looking for taxidermy-ready fox pelts, go to their home page, then click "Tanned Furs", then look at the list of fox types they have. Choose one you like then choose the "Taxidermy Quality" selection.
For instance, if you want a grey fox pelt for taxidermy, go down to "Grey - Taxidermy Quality".
However, at the time it seems they don't have much of a selection. It looks like these are the only taxidermy-ready ones they have in stock: http://hideandfur.com/inventory/6901.html
Something to think about, though: Why do you want a taxidermy-ready pelt if you seem to know very little about taxidermy...?
