How many golden Chinese algae eaters will I need for a 50 gallon tank? I was told they eat all the plants ?
I have a fresh water tank with about 30 guppies, one catfish and 3 algae eaters (not sure of their exact name). I also have a live plant in the tank.
Chinese algae eaters will suck the slime coat off slow-moving fish such as maybe your catfish leaving them open to bacteria and diseases. For the sake of your catfish, I would go with an octinculous catfish or something. They do the same thing, and even look the same, they just don't hurt other fish. I also think they are cheaper and you can get as many as you want.
