What factory ammo does the Savage 110 actions in 30-06 rifles seem to like?
I have the Savage 116 with accutriger.I know all guns have their own preference on ammo, but i figure maybe there is a chance that maybe most savage rifle might prefere a particular brand consistantly. I plan on trying several brands, but if i can get a consistant answer on a brand in particular, it might save me money and ammo isnt cheap. I want to try to keep it with 180 grain bullets for elk and bigger animals, but if you have success with another grain Id like to hear about it. I do not reload yet but will in future and am saving my brass. So far i have only tries cheap winchesters in gray box 180 grains. baseball sized groups. I have a lead sled gun rest but i didnt have weight in it and it was moving to much. I have a burris black diamond scope. So far i really like the scope.Nice clarity.
As you get set up better all around, there are good days ahead! Usually only by handloading does one really group those rounds, but some factory ammo in some guns turns out to be a real tackdriver. Enjoy the journey finding out!
The tough 180 grain "moose" bullets are also properly for use on mere deer, as smaller bullets go faster and expand a lot quicker, both factors combining tending to explode deer. So use the big premium 180's on everything.
