Home defense shotgun?
Im wanting to get into a shotgun mainly for home defense but I wouldnt mind going out and shooting clays with my buddies on occasion.
What would you suggest for me that wouldnt cost an arm and a leg, or at least not mine, for this dual purpose aplication.
I saw a Mossberg 500 with both a pistol grip and stalk at the local gun show for $225 but it seemed that the barrel was a bit short. Hard 2 see it being accurate for shooting clays more than a few yards away.
My buddy has a Remington 870 I think and its a bit long in the berrel for home defense.
And please dont bother answering if you dont know squat about shotguns, Thanks
Your applications or needs are at opposite ends of the spectrum. A good Home Defense Shotgun will have an 18" barrel, whereas, a decent Trap or Clays barrel is 28"-30" and will have a completely different choke. Get yourself a Remington 870 Express Model Shotgun with an 18" barrel for home defense, and an extra barrel for shooting Trap and Clays. The barrels are intertchangable and can be switched in seconds......If you wish you could also buy a less expensive Mossberg 500 Shotgun, but the fact is the Mossberg is just a cheaper and lower quality COPY of the Remington 870 Express to begin with.Your choice...
NOTE: The Remington 870 is the #1 choice of Law Enforcement in the U.S. Today.....
