Would you say the Desert Eagle is an impractical gun?
I know that it's not practical but I still want it. I want a gun that can make a mugger crap his pants. I've shot 9mms and they'er too common to me. I'm getting a matte black .50 with an extended mag and a shoulder holster. I wanna know what you all think. kinda like "Hot or Not"

Not hot. Every time i see an idiot with a .50 deagle, i can't help but laugh at the stupidity.
First and foremost, you don't buy a gun for looks, you buy it for function. It's better to have something that would lay a mugger out rather than just making him crap his pants.
A .50 deagle is HEAVY and LARGE. This prompts two problems: it takes a large amount of arm strength to hold a heavier gun stable and aim accurately, meaning at any distance you're going to be less accurate. Since I shoot shotgun shells at 25 feet with my ruger .40, trust me on this one. Second a large gun is slow to draw and slow to move. The amount of inertia means your reaction time will be sluggish. It also makes your draw from a holster longer, meaning it takes you that much longer to get the thing out.
Further, a .50 is a HUGE bullet. It's too much power to safely fire at a target in a panic situation, and so it endangers people around you. It also kicks like a beast, meaning that it takes you longer to bring the pistol back in line for a follow up shot on target. In other words, I could put 3 accurate shots on target in the time it takes for you to even line up for taking a second shot.
Finally, expense: because the deagle is more or less an amatuer's toy (and no, we don't commonly use them in the military), they're expensive as hell. The ammo costs a fortune too.
Go out and buy a ruger .40, ruger SR9, glock .40 or a 1911 .45, ALL of those would be FAR better weapon choices.
