buck knives...need a bit of help?
for christmas my dad told my mom to get me a buck knife she got be a folding one and asked of i wanted that and i said no i have my folding kershaw so were gonna exchange it for a fixed blade buck. but anyways this will be a hunting and fishing knife and was wondering should i look at one with a gut hook? and what exactly do you do with gut hooks?
ok thanks...i think ill get a gut hook then. im new enough to gutting i could see myself poking the stomach ...just another question are gut hooks hard to sharpen?
A gut hook is exactly as the name implies, it's a sharp hook on the backside of the blade to open the skin on the stomach of the critter without getting into the carcass and possibly cutting into the intestines.
It's a safe way to open the animal for gutting.
