Shooting range question?
Ive recently purchased my first handgun and plan on going to the range to get a feel for handeling it. It is not my first time going to the range, but it is the first time I will shoot my handgun. I purchased a Glock 21 from a Gun Show a while back. What should be the first thing I do? Do I need to "oil" it up so to speak or is it ready to go? Should I get a cleaning kit for afterwards? How often should I clean it? I want to keep it well maintained.
Download and print out the manual from the website below.
Before you shoot it, read the manual, and purchase a nice cleaning kit for pistols in .45 caliber. It's not a bad idea to clean it before you shoot it, so read the directions that come with the kit and give it a good cleaning. I like the "Kleen Bore" brand of kits.
This way, you will be more familiar with your pistol and know how to take it down to clean it before you go to the range, and you will also know that you are going with a nice clean pistol too.
I have a nice G21 with night sights that I really like a lot. I think you have made a good purchase, and I hope you have as much luck with yours as I do with mine.
