I have a 3-9x40 scope and I was wondering what measurement scope rings i should get?
I measured the scope "barrel" diameter to be around 8-9cm or 3 3/8in.
Do i get a high profile mount or a low profile mount, as I was wondering since its a 40mm objective, will it clear the weapon?
The measurement you need is the diameter of the scope barrel (commonly called the "tube"). You will probably have either a one inch tube or a 30mm tube.
The manual you got with the scope should have that information.
The profile of the mount, high, medium, or low, depends more on where the comb of your butt stock (the upper part) puts your eye when you sight thru the scope. Generally, a low mount will work.
The size of the lens, 40mm, should not be a problem.
My advice would be to take the rifle and scope to your gunsmith and have him mount the scope and bore sight the weapon for you. It is an inexpensive solution and will save you a lot of time and effort.
