Wushu steel? What is this in comparison with High Carbon Spring Steel?
I see many references to Wu Shu steel in martial arts magazines but cannot find any real specifications for it, or adequate description of it's qualities in compare to something like, say, 1055 High Carbon Spring Steel. I am sourcing weaponry for sword practice (western martial) and am considering the Jian as a economical replacement to the arming sword.
I read this in an advertisement almost 20 years ago, so take it with a grain of salt, but I believe Wushi steel has much more flexion in it than spring steel. Something like spring steel had a 90-degree bend while Wushu steel had a 180-degree bend, or something like that.
Neither truly replicates a Western sword. And I wouldn't recommend either one for test-cutting, if you plan on doing any of that.
