Can I walk around with a gun in a holster?
I am a united states citizen. My understanding is that I have the right to arm myself with a gun if I so choose to do so. But I realize in most states I need to register my firearm and get a license to certify that I can safely use a firearm. I also understand that in most states that will allow me to conceal a gun on my person, I need a special permit to do so. But assuming I did not want to go through the hassle of getting that special permit, it seems that the alternative would be to not conceal the weapon on my personage. But it seems likely that if I walk into my local bank with a gun in a holster on my belt that I might cause the teller to press the silent alarm, thinking that I am about to rob the place. So anyone have any information about this matter?
Illinois will not allow you to carry a firearm on your person period. So I would be careful about displaying a firearm on your person. Especially since weapon retention is also important - I hope you would equally invest in a level 2 or 3 holster. Keep the firearm concealed in states that allow you to carry.
