hike/fishing trip question?
Me and the wife hike every weekend here in NH. and this weekend we will do some fishing freshwater along a river that, connects with the trail.i don't want to lug a tackle box along with me.(it's a 3 mile hike to the river, and my tackle box is about 20 lbs, also i have my 18 lb, backpack.) I've got my backpack with all my hiking/emergency kits, and my pole. I'm packing a small multi compartment storage thingy. I've got my multi tool and Swiss army knife in my backpack, what should i bring in the storage thingy? I've got 20-25 hooks, even more sinkers, snap swivels, lighter. or anything else i should toss in my pack for fishing, I've got line, needle nose pliers, knives, bug repellent, bait. am i missing any essentials.
If you are planning on keeping fish you might want to bring a stringer and a plastic bag to put the fish in on the way back. They also sell soft sided coolers (small ones) that would keep your fish( or food and drinks ) cold. Might want to bring a cell phone in case of emergency.
