i got a magnesium bar fire starter and i used the blade side and now i dont think itll ever work again now?
i used the blade side because it wasnt working with the dull side of my swiss army knife now i dont think itll work again because it looks really worn out and now it cant even make a spark with the blade side and i dont know if its good anymore
first of all, you are not supposed to use the edge of a knife to strike a ferro rod, big no no, this is how you ruin a knife fairly quickly, your supposed to use something hard, depending on the model of swiss army knife, the file or reamer work well for this job.
how long have you had the magnesium bar? if less then a year, your either doing it wrong or over used it, they're good for about 2000-4000 strikes, depending on the force used to strike(more force, bigger sparks), since I don't have in front of me, it's kinda hard for me to give you a straight answer, isn't it?
