Blindness from laser pointer?
When i was a irresponsible, stupid, careless child, i looked into a laser pointer for about...10 seconds. its something i obviously regret doing, but whats done is done. Since then, i am now 20,my eye sight has gotten worse (-5.25 and -5.00), but has leveled off, meaning my prescription hasn't changed radically for quite some time. I am no optometrist, which is why i want to ask others, can what i did about 10 or more years ago still have a detrimental effect now or has the worst passed?
Most laser pointers that you buy in the US are not strong enough to cause lasting retinal damage. They cause brief vision loss, just like a flash from a camera causes parts of your visual field to be affected temporarily. There are some laser pointers from overseas that are much stronger and are often not labeled correctly, but your myopia is absolutely unrelated to the laser.
