Using a layout blind?
We're hunting ducks/geese is a harvested bean field. They get near our spread but then flare off about 75 yards away. We've been laying on the bare ground with just camo outerware.
So, we've ordered some layout blinds. They'll be here in time for us to use them this weekend. Duck season ends here this Sunday too.
What are some tips/advice for a first time user of a layout blind? They are solid brown in color. I've heard that you can mix some dirt & water in bucket from the field you'll be hunting in, and then brush it onto the blind with a broom. The blind also has "loops" to hold clumps of grass/stubble.
Any more advice would be appreciated
What you need to think about is what your setup looks like from above. Rake up some stubble and dirt from a different part of the field and blend your blind in as if it wasnt even there. Place a couple of decoys almost touching you, one at your head and one at your knees to help break things up. Preparing your site to look as natural as possible is just part of it. If you still have birds flare try rearranging your spread. Good luck and hope you get a bunch.
