question about priming?
i have the lee case trimmer, and the attachment that you use to guide your trimmer and allow it to be trimmed to exact length
the shell holding end has a part that holds the shell by the rim, and a piece that can be screwed into the bottom so that you can get a hold of it, what i am wondering is if you can use the two parts of the shell holder to set a primer, specualation is ok for an answer this time, but i am more wondering is if you have actually had any success doing this
I am a reloading instructor.
That universal case trimmer seat is fine to hold the case - not for priming.
Honestly - go buy a Lee or RCBS 'Pocket Primer'. or 'Auto Prime' hand held unit. This is the most accuracte and least wasteful way to prime cases. Because you can easily feel when on is not seated correct, or, something is off with the primer hole (too big, too tight).
Match shooters will seat the primer with the tool - then turn the case 90 degrees and then give it a final push to seat. You will be shocked how doing this seats your brass better - and how many shells the primer goes in a schoch more.
That - and check out the RCBS 'Inside primer pocket reamer'. Primer holes are punched in from the back and you get scap metal iside that can deflect the primer blast. Match shooters use the inside reamer to remove this junk - this tool will shock you how nice your groups will be after using it.
