smooth bore or rifled slug gun? light slug or heavy slug?
im looking to buy a good slug gun. exactly how much better is a rifled shotgun with expensive sabots then a smooth bore shooting reasonably priced riffled slugs? in the area i hunt the longest shot i take is about 125 yards would a smooth bore be accurate at that range.also which is better a light fast slug or a heavy slower slug?
A rifled barrel with sabot slugs would be the most accurate. I would say you should get 150 yards with that combo, also since the sabots are actual bullets they will have much higher sd than a traditional slug. A good compromise for you could be if you have a smooth bore that takes different chokes to get a rifled choke for your gun this would make your gun a 100 yard deer gun. I think a smooth bore with traditional slugs is really not that accurate at 125 yards, personally I would think 75 is about the most your going to get consistent groups.
