.22 lr for survival scenario. Bolt action or Semi-auto?
I'm looking to buy a .22 for small game purposes and was wondering what some more experienced people thought. I'm leaning towards the Marlin 981t. It's a tube fed, bolt action with a fiberglass stock ready for a scope. My reasoning is; in the event of a worldwide services shutdown, (TEoTWaWKI) I would want a tool that doesn't have a lot of moving parts. Less moving parts-less possibility of a breakdown. Also, the tubular magazine would be better than a magazine fed weapon. Slimmer profile and it's harder to lose a long tube than a small magazine. I'm also concerned about potential damage to the mag / mag well, Receiver, from it being dropped or banged on a rock or tree.
I'm a novice so my reasoning may be a bit off.
If I were to go Semi auto, I was looking at one of those Henry Survival rifles.
I also own an 7.62x39 and a 6.5x55 Swedish. Just looking for a .22 for small game.
Marlin 981 goes for about 180-230 +/-
Marlin 981t is one of the most reliable 22's you can buy.
