Alright, i want a good bolt action gun for kinda like a project slash hunting rifle. This will be my first centerfire purchase and i was wondering if their are any websites where i can buy one already sporterized. I want to redo the stock and re-blue the barrel to make it look nice. Any body know of any sights, scope mounts, anything else i could use to upgrade this rifle. Dont want to pay more than $200 on the auctuall gun alone, not counting the accesories. And how bad does this rifle kick, im only 13 and i dont want a rifle that kicks harder than a 30-06. Do i need a recoil pad?
Recoil is along the lines of any full power military lines. Barely any less than a 06, 8mm mauser etc. Ide reccomend a pad. Im 6'1 185 and i wear one.
I cant help you with finding a sporter though. Enfields are tricky to bed though because there is only one king screw that holds the foward handgaurd on, and the draws that hold it to the reciever socket. Without a good knowledge of the enfield action it will be difficult to accurize. www.surplusrifle.com is a good source
Dont use paki (POF headstamp) .303 surplus ammo. It has tons of short hangfires (like a second or so) and it throws off accuracy/safety.
