best camping equipment.?
I plan to go traveling for 2+ years from england > east.
is there anything you would recommend bringing?
I plan to get a bivvy tent, blizzard bag, big rucksack, camping pots and pans, leatherman plier multi tool, nylon thin rope, led maglite, meth stove, coat, leather shoes, self inflating roll mat.
would you change/add anything?
I`d swap out the LED Maglite for a headlamp, so much more convienent, you can cook set up camp etc with the use of both your hands and shining the light where you need it.
I`d bring a couple pair of socks too, Merino Wool. They can keep your feet warm even if they are wet, they cut down on odor, and dry fairly quickly. Rinse a pair off and hang it from your pack to dry while wearing another pair.
I`d also bring Duct Tape. Ripped sleeping bag? Duct tape Ripped Tent? Duct tape Busted boot Duct Tape Busted Backpack? Duct Tape Feeling a hotspot/blister coming on Duct tape. You dont need the entire roll, get a pencil and wrap the pencil with the tape until you have what you feel is enough. No need to bring a 5 pound roll of tape.
What about a First Aid Kit? Doesnt have to be anything spectacular-but it is one of the 10 essentials, which you are missing many.
What about water bottles or a Bladder- like a Camelback or Platypus? Also a means of Water Purification, either tablets, crystals or a filter
A Lighter...how would you light your stove?
I`d swap out the thin Nylon rope with 550 Paracord. Its parachute cord that can hold upto 550 pounds, you can tell the real stuff from imitations because the real stuff will have 7 individual strands inside the sheath, in a pinch these strands can be used individually for a fishing line or to increase the amount of cordage you have.
