Tips on painting Mallard & Pintail decoys?
I need to paint my decoys before the duck season opens...
What kind of paint should i use?
Anything helps!
You'll get a lot of different answers for this question; most of which will be right. I use flat latex paints. Satin paint will work but it tends to be a bit too shiny for my liking. Whatever paint you use, make sure to get a can of Bulldog Adhesion Promoter. Follow the directions on the can and it will help your paint stick to the plastic. I got my can at Wal-Mart in the auto section, but I imagine you can find it at an auto parts store. If you don't use the promoter, then you will have to lightly sand the decoy to insure paint adhesion. There is also a spray paint that adheres to plastic by itself, I believe from Rustoleum. The last time I checked it only came in glossy bright colors, but you could check that out also.
