What would be a good pistol to buy for a beginner?
Ive had some experiance with .22 rifles and pistols, but this was years ago, im looking into buying a pistol to become a better shot with. Should i go with a .22 cal or 9mm pistol, and should i go with a semi auto or a revolver. Im also looking for something that is cheap and rather low matinence . Thank you for your input.
Well .22lr will help hone your accuracy and is fun and cheap to shoot. If this handgun will double as a protective tool then I would go with 9mm for a semi-auto and .357mag for revolver. To start I would load the .357mag with .38special since it can fire both calibers. Once you feel you can graduate to .357 you only have to buy the ammo not a whole new gun.
But the choice of revolver and semi-auto is yours. I shoot much better with semi-autos so that is what I like.

These are some of my favorites. All very easy to clean. I would not look for a "cheap" handgun. Inexpensive handguns are the Ruger SR9 and P95, and Taurus 24/7 Pro Series.
You can always look for deals on gunbroker.com and budsgunshop.com
