best pistol on the market for target shooting?
Used STRICTLY for indoor target ranges (not personal protection) My prefered caliber is 9MM and i'd prefer a lighter weight handgun with excellent accuracy. Budget is under $1500 and don't list something that is a discontinued model. I've shot the Sig and Glock among other and like them both.
Make and Model pls
Well, if you are focused on tack driving accuracy, and possibly some sort of infomal bullseye shooting there are a few choices (Since this is purely a range gun I'm not making any account for size, only weight, I'm also not mentioning the Glock or Sig because you already know about them):
1) H&K USP Expert model: This has most of H&K's accurization stuff incorporated into it.
2) Kimber 9mm lightweight: Essentially, this is a full size 1911, with an aluminum frame and steel slide. Kimber's are known for their accuracy, and all come with a match barrel and bushing. Generally, there are many high end 1911's in 9mm. I happen to like Kimbers.
3) Pardini GT9: Will be at the high end of your price range, but if you can find one they are great bullseye guns if you like the grip angle (which if you like the Glock you'll probably like this and these are probably twice the accuracy of a Glock at a minimum)
4) Beretta 92: In my experience these have remarkably good accuracy for the dollar - I would get one used, I would probably not pay sticker for them. I would also get trigger work done on it as well.
5) Browning/FN Hi - Power: Made in Belgium, and not one of the clones like a FEG for real tack driving accuracy. Again, might consider used to find one of the older hand tuned ones, but the new ones still have a great reputation.
6) CZ75 Tactical Sport, Champion Model, or SP01 Shadow. These are heavier guns, but all have customization to improve their accuracy and speed.
7) EAA Witness Limited: EAA's competing product to the CZ products listed above.
Last, you indicated you weren't interested in discontinued models, but ... I'll throw in that the H&K P7 series of pistols are very accurate and plentiful in the used market. The P7S is the most common, but there is a P7M8 and a P7M13 which have American mag releases instead of heel release in the P7S and are single stack (the
or double stack (the 13). Great if you have big hands.
Good luck,
Thinkingblade
