I have a "scope barrel" on my Mossberg 500, but I want to just use the barrel with open sights? Please advise?
I have the Mossberg Scope Barrel on my Mossberg 500, but I no longer want to use the scope, just the rifled barrel.

Is there anyway that I can do away with the scope and just shoot using this barrel and no optics? Or, because of the raised rail that the scope is mounted to, can I only us a scope?

Sorry, but you'll have to use a scope. Since the scope mount is cantilevered over the action, you will not be able to mount open sights on the barrel.
Good news, though. The Mossberg 500 is one of the most popular shotguns out there, and there are replacement barrels available in a variety of styles. You can purchase a new barrel that will have open sights on it already. Cabela's sells a variety.
