Is this a good price for a used rifle?
A local gun shop has an old Marlin .30-30 lever action selling for $270. It's about 25 years old, has lost a lot of bluing on the barrel but no rust. The action is smooth enough and it shoots fine. The stock is pretty torn up but could be stripped & refinished, and it needs a new butt plate or recoil pad. It also comes with a base-model scope (I forget the brand on that).
So, fair price or not?
Ya know --- Many folks may feel that's a good value... But not to me.... If it was more like $150 to $185 I would say buy it.... But at $275 i really do feel that is all the money on it and its not that great a deal....
Before I would cough that kind of coin up for that gun I would really rather spend a few $$$ more to get a brand new one.... The Marlin is a fine rifle but in the condition your talking I would either pay less or pass and get a new one... These guns aren't that astronomically expensive to begin with...... Figure well under $495....
