how do i tune my snow goose call?
i recently bought a Quackhead snow goose call. i took it apart to clean it and it went out of tune. (it wasn't in tune in the first place i don't believe.) i know i have to adjust the reed, and probably the pieces holding the reed. when i blow the call and make a honking noise, exactly as it says, it sounds a bit more high pitched than the geese i tried calling in. i listened to actual geese in a field near my house, and my neighbor (who guides duck and goose hunts) and he tuned it to where wasn't quite as high pitched. but it is still to high. help??
i dont know how good you are with one, so i will say this. in my experience, its almost always the operator. i bought a canada hammer and it sounded awful. a buddy picked it up and it sounded great. he was putting a little rumble of voice through the call and i was just using air with no noise. especially if it is a new call to you, you may need to adjust your mechanics a little to get the sound you want. this is why i dont buy new calls very ofter, because they take me a while to adjust to.
