I'm trying to find a specific gun... I lost my brother's gun when I moved overseas...?
These are all of the details I can remember:
Maybe remington?
take down 22 rifle
fired 22 longs or shorts
lever action
bough new around 1992
take down kind of popped into place and had a screw bolt that you could do by hand on the right side (I think it was on the right)
came with a black carrying bag (cloth) with yellow writing on the side (quite large writing)
Can anyone help me identify this gun? I'm looking for an exact replacement..
It sounds to me like you are talking about a Marlin Model 39A. It is one of the very few remaining .22 rifles with easy take down ability, like you describe. Here is a link to the Marlin web site and the gun, note the screw just above the trigger:

This is one of the better lever action .22 rifles on the market. The price reflects that, expect to pay about $450 or more.
