Q: Were the police informed before hand of the intention to?
hold a demonstration of abuse at the Anglian Regiment returning from their tour of duty. If not the demonstration was illegal and all the protesters should be arrested forthwith.
The Police ought to have stepped in and stopped even though this country is a democracy it is a disgrace that these radicals were allowed the freedom to sling abuse at our hard working, undervalued and neglected troops.
Common voice your opinion and stand up for what is right. Let us protest by voicing our disgust at the way the whole thing was handled by the authorities and police.

I Don't think there is any requirement to inform the police of a demonstration, but there is a requirement to inform the police of a parade.
The police may have stopped the demonstration under public order legislation, but I think that would have played into the demonstrators hands. Can you imagine the 'soldiers fighting for democracy but people not allowed to demonstrate' argument they would have used?
They number less then 10, and crave publicity. Just Ignore them, its the worse thing you could possibly do to them
