What scope should I get for my .17 hmr?
Hey guys, I am in the market to buy a scope for my mossberg 817. I looking to spend around $200 but am willing to maybe go as high as around $300, if I'm really gonna get something worth buying.
This gun will be used for small game and target shooting from around 50-250 yards.
Here is what I've been looking at:
Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 w/ ballistic plex
Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40 w/ DOA reticle
Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 w/ BDC reticle
Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 w/ BDC
Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 w/ BDC
Any comments on these scopes would really be appreciated because this is a damn hard decision. I like the idea of the reticle with multiple distance points.
Any suggestions besides these scopes? I'm looking for a quality, durable peice of equipment in the $200-300 range. That means...no BSA thanks lol.
the 4.5-14x40 is a bit big and just not needed, any 3x9 is probbaly going to be the max you'll need to go. I use a 3x9 on my hmr and my .17 mach2 they're the best size. Nikon makes good stuff you'll never go wrong with them but the best of what you have listed is probably the burris fullfield and the nikon team primos, really any of these scopes will do, they won't ever fail a .17 hmr their is just no shock happening to the scope unless you drop it...hey it happens. It'd be best if you went to a shop and looked through some of these scopes at first hand then you can decide for yourself, nikons have always been my first choice in scopes just really good quality.
