shotgun or rifle for first gun?
i want to get into hunting, and cannot decide which one to get. i think that a rifle would be better for deer hunting though. and i do have experience with guns, this would just be the first gun that i would own
and for each, what brand/model would be the best? i could spend probably up to $500
a shotgun in my opinion is a better all around gun.For hunting anything from rabbits to turkey,a shotgun wins hands down.And a 12 or 20 gauge slug will knock a deer on its butt in a hurry with awell placed shot.A Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 express coan be bought well under $500.You might consider a good used combination gun too.Maybe a 243/20 gauge combo.
