For $395 what would be a better SKS?
A Chinese ex-military no bayonet or a Yugoslavian M59/66 all original and all matching.
I'm just curious. I'm probably going to buy a Chinese SKS off gun broker for $250 then pay the shipping and sixty for the transfer [highway robbery]. The shop only has two SKS rifles and they seem a little to high for me. I was considering the Yugo but a new employee wouldn't let me disassemble it. All the other guns I bought from there I always disassemble and expect before I purchase. I'm going to go back another day and see if my regular guy or the owner is there because I know they'll let me disassemble.
AL- I don't think that new employee knew squat about the SKS. When I started talking about gas valves his face went blank. I might as well been talking in russian.
I would buy the Yugo. And personaly I would get a Russian SKS. Here is one;

My wife is a big fan of the SKS. So I am the one that works on them for her. And I must say the Russian is #1 Yugo#2 and the Chinese is pushing last place.
I have had my disapointments with Gunbroker and now buy from Gunsamerica.
Oh ya I agree with the others that clerk should let you take it down for a look see.
