How much can I expect to get for my Glock 22 from a pawn shop if I trade it in for a new Glock 27 ($480)?
My Glock is a 3rd generation, .40 caliber Glock, upgraded to night sights, has a brand new larger slide lock, and three 15 round magazines. It comes with everything such as carrying case, manual, key lock, cleaning tools, etc. just like if you bought it brand new. It's in perfection working order. There is minimal/slight wear on the slide from holster use. I've seen the gun on gunbroker.com on average $380 (with only 1 mag, night sights, no case, no lock, no manual, and no cleaning tools). Mine has all of that plus 2 extra 15 round mags, and a Glock bullet into magazine loader. A new Glock 22 with 1 magazine is $500, with night sights, $590.
Can I use the trade in and certain cash amount to get a deal on the new Glock 27 the pawn shop is selling for $480? Like if they gave me $200 for my gun how much should I offer in cash?
A pawn shop might give you $200.
Pawn shops aren't interested in fair price, they are out there to make money. You take their offer or go somewhere else.
For a private sale however, I would ask $450
EDIT:: I said might. I don't run a pawn shop, and don't know your guy. He may give you a good deal, he may not. My used gun store guy offers big discounts for cash because he knows me. It doesn't hurt to try.
But you will get the most money with a private sale.
