Gerber Contrast... Mystery Coating?
Hello again, Y-answerers...
Now, I don't want guesswork or speculation. I need an answer from someone who knows what they're talking about...
The Gerber Contrast clip folding knife, found at http://www.gerbergear.com/index.php/product/id/626 , has a black coating. I have searched high and low, including both on the site and in online reviews, but no one seems to have a definitive answer for what type of coating the blade sports. The closest thing I've seen is "--seems to be similar to a Teflon coating--" on WoodsMonkey. Can anyone help me out here? Supporting information, such as the grounds upon which your answers are based, would be greatly appreciated...
Gerber guards the exact formulation for their blade coatings. But in essence most of their heavy use knives have a titanium nitride blade coating.

If you contact Gerber Customer Service direct they will confirm this.
