Looking for a pocket knife of some sort...?
..to keep in my room in case 'something' happens. Preferably not a folding one that flips out, had a bad experience with them. Want a high quality, durable one, either spring loaded, or one similar to a stanley knife (where you have to push the blade out)
I don't want to spend too much, no experience with blades, but I'd like to keep it under $30
Doh...pepper spray...forgot all about that. Think I'll go with a spray and a Swiss Army knife, would be useful seeing as I'm beginning to kind of get in a survivalist mindset
Forget the pepper spray, it's illegal where I live
As for knives, I would go with a 'fixed' blade. I like the Kay-bar, it is around $50 .. but a very rugged and versatile blade. I would think a gun is not an option, so I won't go there.
When I first started traveling for construction work years ago I kept an interesting weapon next to my bed in the motels. I have an old WW2 trenching tool (little shovel) I kept the shovel blade folded out and I sharpened it just a little. If an intruder were to have invaded me I believe this weapon would have destroyed any part of the human body I would have 'struck' with it.
It would have given me more distance between myself and my foe than a knife and is quite intimidating.
