non-stainless, high carbon, tool grade steel folding knife?
I want a folding knife I can wear in a belt sheath with the kind of steel which holds a fine edge and most importantly with which I can strike a spark (in case I get lost in the woods
But everyone has gone to stainless these days. I want good old steel, the kind which will rust (some, being high-carbon tool grade steel) if you don't keep it oiled. Where online can I find those? I'd pay $200 but not interested in art, want durability.
The reason I want a folder is because I intend to carry it every day, not just in the woods, and a big fixed-blade knife scares the straights.. But stainless won't strike a spark, so need regular steel.
But what about the spark? Stainless won't spark (much) and I want to be able to strike a good spark.
I would definitely recommend D2 steel if you want a high-carbon steel. As far as knife brands, I like Benchmade and Knives of Alaska. You can't go wrong with either. Just take a look at both of their websites and pick a knife that you like with that steel.
