Are stilettos illegal in Illinois?
I'm beginning a knife collection and I already have a bowie knife, balisong, multitool, and some pocket knives, but I would really like to add an automatic knife to my collection. I live in Illinois and I've tried reading the law but it makes no sense at all to me. It seems like they're saying it's illegal to carry a knife with you if you're going to stab someone, but that's pretty obvious. Help me?
Go visit a local knife shop and ask them for details. In In Illinois you can't carry these knifes because they are classified as weapons. It is illegal to purchase or possess or carries any knife commonly referred to as a switchblade knife, which has a blade that opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in the handle of the knife, or a ballistic knife, The stiletto falls into a category that you can not be "otherwise armed" which means if found in your home you need make sure that you do not appear armed but as a collector.
