knives- art/carving/utility/survival...?
I would say "what's a good art knife?" but Im not talking about exacto knives
I'm thinking more a camping/survival type knife but without being too Rambo
something able to cut bamboo, to carve and shape tree branches, something that could handle some decent chiseling duties, also some detail work in wood, maybe even cut some copper wiring fairly easily... so I guess some sort of carbon blade? and nice handle...
benchmade.com looks like they have some good stuff - are they a good brand overall?
I would prefer a folding blade, and a streetlegal blade absolutely so I can carry it around
... I guess a fixed blade would be fine... but needs to be street legal
and super bonus for that which is available in larger national dealers like REI so I can test drive before buy...
the benchmade 551S is giving me a bit of a hardon...
Pilot survival knives fit the bill, plenty of fold able versions by various manufactures, I've always liked Gerber's myself, The only one I know for sure is illegal no matter which state you live in, is the new knife the US armed forces uses, seen it on the tube, pretty Rambo, I'm sure a cop might want to know what your doing with such a knife. and I don't think he's gonna want to hear, cutting bamboo,
