what do different police uniforms mean?
i've noticed some police are dressed like a 'buisness' (for lack of a better word) look with slacks and 'dress' shoes, and some have a military styled look, boots with tactical pants bloused at the top of the boot. is the difference a rank/job specific (i.e. SWAT) thing, or is it a preference? i ask because i've seen both styles of uniform on traffic police, but 'special ops' that i've seen only wear the military styled uniforms.
At my PD, it depends on the unit they are in or if they have a special skill in the department. You may see 4 different uniforms on officers in patrol cars on any given night.
